Digital Hardware Design Engineer (Aerospace)
Responsibilities:
• Providing technical leadership to design teams throughout the h/w development cycle from research, hardware requirements, architecture definition to design implementation and verification.
• Performing design feasibility studies, defining hardware architecture, design implementation, schematic capture, functional simulations, signal integrity simulations, defining high speed digital constraints, preparing bill of materials, guiding PCB layout designers during PCB implementation, all while being aware of EMC, DFM, safety, qualification, certification and reliability requirements.
• Hardware design and architecture for complex high speed digital design applications.
• Working in cross functional teams interacting with FPGA/ASIC, S/W, Mechanical, Component Engineering, Project Engineering and Board Layout designers.
• Project planning, effort estimation and schedule management. Working at detailed design implementation level as well as higher project level, handling responsibilities for project milestones, schedule tracking and setting of priorities.
• Signal integrity analysis and simulations for complex high speed digital designs.
• Timing budget analysis.
• Schematic capture using Mentor DxDesigner.
• Participating in and leading design reviews.
• Design guidance and mentoring of less experienced team members.
• Testing, verification and measurement of digital or mixed signal designs in lab environment.
• Coordination of design activities.
Requirements:
• Hardware design and architecture for complex high speed digital design applications.
• Technical leadership skills with demonstrated experience.
• Thorough knowledge and experience with hardware design processes, methodologies and tools.
• Experience with schematic capture and design implementation using design tools such as Mentor DxDesigner, Cadence Allegro or similar.
• Mentorship of less experienced engineers.
• Ability to manage and translate systems requirements to hardware requirements, design implementation and verification.
• Thorough knowledge and experience with test equipment and test methodologies: data analyzers, DSOs, logic analyzers, signal generators, etc.
• Experience with processor/DSP/controller/ASIC/FPGA selection and HW/SW interface definition.
